Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) [Specialisation in Circus]

This unique programme offers circus skills alongside the discipline of dance and performance. New Zealand’s only full time accredited training in contemporary circus, dance and performance. LEVEL 6

Programme Overview

 

The programme aims to deliver focussed training to talented students to develop their creativity, skill, passion and potential.

Led by internationally acclaimed director Deborah Pope, with teachers from Cirque du Soliel, RNZB, Guildhall, this programme incorporates intensive physical training in circus and dance with an exciting performance training. Its aim is to develop a highly employable and inspiring graduate.

  • Acrobatics-tumbling, handstands, partnerwork
  • Group Work- adagio, aerial
  • Aerials-trapeze, aerial ring, rope
  • Performance- Improvisation, Acting, Clown, Singing
  • Dance- Ballet, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Tap
  • Business Skills--H&S, Rigging
  • History of Circus & Basic Anatomy

Campus Starts on Duration
Wellington City 2017: 13 Feburary Two years, full-time

Domestic Fees: $7,861 (per year)

International Fees: $20,250 NZD (per year)

 

Entry Requirements

Domestic students

NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, plus evidence of performance skills/ability based on audition and interview

International students

Proven equivalence to domestic entry requirements and IELTS 6.0 (no band lower than 5.5)

Graduates find work in contemporary circus, traditional circus, physical theatre, festivals, opera, stunt work, corporate work, education, social circus and other sectors of the arts industry.
