Our on-site licensed training restaurants are purpose-built to train our students to the highest industry standard
Students provide cáfe mornings, lunches, dinners and events throughout the academic year to paying customers. This practical, hands-on experience ensures they are ready for work and also provides a fantastic opportunity for the public to enjoy a quality dining experience at a reduced price. Production lunches and dinners run throughout the year. Please note that payment is required at time of booking.
Opened in 1991 as The Estuary, Te Onepu at the Porirua campus is our longest running training restaurant. It provides regular cáfe mornings for staff and students, and hosts production lunches and dinners throughout the year. Its counterpart in Paraparaumu, Kitchen at Kāpiti, opened in 2012 as part of the then new Kāpiti campus on the corner of Kapiti Road and Milne Drive.
Global Cuisine Buffet Lunch: Thursdays, 5 and 12 October, at 12 noon, $20pp
Students research a chosen country, order ingredients, cook and serve the dish they have created.
Buffet Dinner: Thursday 19 October at 6.00pm, $30pp
Year 1 Certificate/Diploma in Cookery students offer a selection of hot and cold dishes, followed by a delicious array of desserts.
Table D'Hote: Thursdays, 2 and 9 November, at 6.00pm, $35pp
Year 1 Certificate/Diploma in Cookery students offer you a three course, three choices, fixed price menu.
Dinner: Fridays, 1 and 8 December, at 6.00pm, $40pp
Degustation is a final showcase of the cumulative work of our two-year New Zealand Diploma in Cookery (Level 5) students. This is a multi-course, small portion, tasting set menu of fine dining foods and modern cookery techniques. The evening will begin with canape at your table as part of your seven entree size courses. Places are limited.
