Whitireia and WelTec share Minister Hipkins’ aspiration to strengthen the provision of vocational education and welcome the proposal to broaden the role of ITPs to support people studying on campus, through blended delivery and in the workplace.
There is a lot of detail in the proposals that still needs to be understood, including how to ensure local stakeholders can meaningfully influence the shape of provision at their local campus. Whitireia and WelTec look forward to working constructively with the Tertiary Education Commission and the Ministry of Education to understand the ideas in more detail, and if approved, support their successful implementation.
In the interim, our focus is continuing to provide high quality vocational education and training for students in the wider Wellington region and at our Auckland campus.
Students enrolled at Whitireia and WelTec in 2019 can be confident that these proposals will not affect their study.
