Aims: This paper prepares students to use clinical judgement and nursing knowledge to provide safe health consumer centred care across the lifespan. It promotes understanding of issues surrounding diversity, social justice and te Tiriti o Waitangi in the New Zealand healthcare context and its impact on health consumers and nursing practice. It provides opportunities for students to explore and demonstrate the professional responsibilities of the registered nurse. It integrates learning from Year One and Year Two and moves students towards the goal of ‘being a professional nurse’.
