New Zealand Diploma in Dance (L6)

Get prepared for the commercial dance sector. Develop your skills in jazz, ballet, tap, hip hop, commercial and lyrical/contemporary dance. Train in our studios and perform in productions. Learn to market yourself, make a showreel and develop industry-standard audition techniques.

The Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) equips students with a high level of technical, artistic and interpretative skill in dance and provides the opportunity for practical performing experience. Students also study dance history, anatomy and gain the skills to become a self-employed artist.

Students perform in productions which showcase the breadth of dance styles they have mastered during their studies.

Students have the opportunity to collaborate with students who are studying a variety of performing arts programmes, including musical theatre.

Completion of the Diploma in Performing Arts (Dance) provides a pathway into the third year of the Bachelor of Creativity (Performing Arts).

Performing Arts auditions

Auditions for our 2021 performing arts intake will be held on the 5th & 6th of September. They usually involve workshops or groups classes as well as some individual demonstration. 

Entry criteria

NCEA Level 2 or equivalent, plus evidence of skills/ability/aptitude based on audition and interview
